I Heart Faces: By the Book

I love this photo I was able to capture of my baby girl looking over her "big brother's" shoulder! This is the baby boy (17 months old) I Nanny for, and she absolutely loves him! They spend every day together. As soon as she begins crawling, I have no doubt she will constantly be on his heels! They both love for me to read them books. This is just after Grant has taken The Three Little Kittens away from Tessa to read himself (this happens often!). If she has it, he wants it! But as you can see, she didn't mind too much! I had a couple of other photos I really liked that I took for the I Heart Faces photo challenge, but this one stood out because it was a moment I may not ever be able to capture again.

Day Four: Clouds

Finally a day with clouds! But the sky was completely overcast, so I couldn't get any good pictures of individual clouds. I decided to just put them in the background!

Day Five: Breakfast Today

I decided to skip Day Four (Clouds). Hopefully I can come back to it later. This breakfast is special because it was made for me by my sweet husband on our anniversary. He really, really wanted to do it, so when he wasn't able to find the bacon or biscuits I like from Aldi, he drove to buy them the morning of, after I told him not to worry about it.  I mean, it wasn't like my birthday, where the day is all about me =) Our anniversary is for the both of us, but he wanted to do this, so I didn't object too much! Needless to say, it was very delicious and a step-up from my usual bowl of oatmeal! Thanks honey! Just so you know, I took this photo the 10th of January and just left it sitting on my computer, waiting to be posted. So I am not quite so far behind as I seem!

Day Three: Hands

I am late! I know. But the photo I wanted to take of hands did not work out. The next day was clouds, and we happen to have had many cloudless, sunny days in a row! I may just have to get creative with that one! I do have Day Five done, so I may just add them out of order =)

This picture was taken with my new lens (which I love!) of me and my husband on our anniversary (3 years). We decided to do pictures at Waterfront Park and I used my tripod. However, I forgot the remote, so it was a little more work that I was expecting, but we had fun and got some cute shots. I think the more I use the tripod, the better the photos will turn out and the more confident I will get using it. I wish our thumbs were in focus, but you will understand by reading the paragraph below, plus the hands picture was an after thought, and it was getting very cold! I should have spent more time looking at the playback.

Bad news about my lens, the auto focus is not compatible with my camera, meaning I will always have to manually focus my pictures. In the long run, I think it will make me a better photographer, but for right now, it is giving me a headache! Literally...the image can look perfectly focused through the viewfinder and completely blurry in the playback! My head really starts to hurt as a result of looking so intently at the images. Oh well. That's what I get for assuming a Nikon autofocus lens would mean a Nikon autofocus lens....always read your manual before making a purchase! Nevertheless, I love it and probably would have purchased it anyways since it would have been a hundred dollars more to get the same lens that would be compatible.

Three years ago today, I walked down the aisle and married the man of my dreams. One year ago today, we found out we were having a baby girl. Hope to always remember these sweet moments! I am so thankful to our gracious God!

Enjoy the photo! And check out the I Heart Faces blog from the previous post. Love it!

Day Two Challenge: My Favorite Shoes

These are the first pair of shoes Tessa ever wore. They are her only size zeroes, and the only ones small enough to fit her feet when she was 6 months old. Just this week, she has moved up to size one! She loved wearing shoes for the first time. They made a neat noise when she clapped her feet together, and they were great to chew on! As a result, though these shoes were brand new (bought for her by my mom), you can see a tinge of yellow on them from all the chewing. Kinda gross, but she enjoyed it! She got compliments every time she wore them. And I have to agree; they are super cute!

Photography Challenge: Day One

So I chose a thirty-day challenge. I had three picked out and decided I would pick which one to do based on the first day's challenge. One was high heels. I didn't really feel much motivation for that one. The other two were both self-portraits. Ugh. I hate self-portraits. Or at least trying to do them. I am no good at tripod photography.

But then I remembered I had a big mirror in the bathroom I had recently painted and decided to attempt a mirror portrait rather than getting out the tripod. I took them in black and white just to see the effect. Here are my results!

I love the second and third one because it is me uncorrected. I have weird movements with my hands, arms, and face in my everyday life. I only notice when I see myself on video. I wish I had straightened up the camera on the third one, but I decided to still add it because that is how I hold my fingers when I am not thinking about it. I honestly hate this aspect of myself, but I like that it shows me how really look. Me and my younger sister agree that Emma Roberts has the same problem. Weird mouth movements when she talks, weird ways of holding her hands...maybe it's a skinny girl thing? God made my movements a bit odd, and I can't change it! Might as well embrace it.
