I Heart Faces Challenge: Happiness

I feel like this photo of my baby girl reveals happiness in its truest form. She loves her daddy, and her laughter reveals her great joy in receiving his sweet kisses. I am so thankful I was able to capture this moment between them!

Challenge 9: Animal

This is our cute dog, Hope. She is about 3 years old. Unfortunately, we are really wanting to give her away. She has some bad habits that are only getting worse with us having a baby. I am pretty confident that these habits are a result of not getting as much attention as she used to along with not having a yard to get out her energy. I am sad that my relationship with her is nothing like it used to be. When she was my "baby", we played constantly, I let her sleep with me in my bed after bath day, she would always run to me in the mornings to see if I were awake, etc. Now we just get on each other's nerves. I have tried to renew our relationship a few times, but then she does something like eating a cloth diaper or a sock or bites one of us....No, I do not have unconditional love for her. I mean, I love her in that I want the best for her, but my actions and attitudes toward definitely do not reflect that love after she does something like the above (which is pretty much every day). The big reason we feel like we have to give her away is the biting. She snaps even at children if they touch her in a way that causes any type of pain. She has only bit my husband through the skin, but I don't want to risk that happening to a baby or child. She has no self-control when it comes to pain, however slight it is. She is very defensive. I supposed this happens to a dog with a past. She was abandoned and then attacked while in the dog shelter. But she loves people! She learns tricks very quickly. She gives hugs, shakes, plays dead, stands-up, jumps, ...everything except for "speak" pretty much! She would make a great dog for a couple with older children (5 and up), a couple with no children, or a single. We are hoping to find her a good home that is a perfect fit for her! I should also note that we did not have trouble with biting until we moved here. She has become much more aggressive being cooped  up in a small apartment with little attention and affection. We feel really bad, but cannot do much to help.

Before and After

This image is from Fix-It Friday on iheartfaces.com. Every Friday, they post an image that every member has an opportunity to edit. I am currently doing a trial run of Photoshop, so I decided to edit it in Gimp as well in order to compare my results. Here they are!

After with Gimp

 Before

After with Photoshop

I actually think I like my Gimp edit better. I did both of these quickly, so I could have probably gotten them to look more similar. I have a harder time in Photoshop because I am not as familiar with it. I was able to get the eyes sharper in Gimp though I used the same filter. Again, I could go back and get them sharper in Photoshop, but I didn't have the motivation! I am just thrilled that I can do similar edits with Gimp, which is free. Photoshop is like $700!

Challenge 8: High Angle

So this does not look like a high angle, but that is because I am using my 50mm lens. It still is not too high of an angle, but honestly I do not have any motivation to get out and try something super creative. This was my view from the couch while Tessa was throwing a fit on the floor. She would stop crying if I wiggled my toes at her.

Challenge 7: Flowers

I love tulips. These are at the home I work at each weekday. They were the perfect photo opportunity!

Challenge 6: BOOKS!

I decided to call the title Challenge instead of "Day" because obviously, I do not blog daily! Perhaps I will get into the routine sometime one of these days...Anyways, this first picture I took the first day I got my lens, which was about a month ago. This is the Bible Crockett's mom bought for me soon after we met. I love it! It is marked up quite a bit, and though I do not use it as much as I did (it is very heavy!), it definitely holds a special place in my heart. The second picture is of another bookshelf that I decided to try and rearrange by color. I saw the idea in a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I really like how it turned out. I did it in our living room and in our bedroom. Hopefully my husband will still be able to find his books!

And I just love this picture!

I Heart Faces: By the Book

I love this photo I was able to capture of my baby girl looking over her "big brother's" shoulder! This is the baby boy (17 months old) I Nanny for, and she absolutely loves him! They spend every day together. As soon as she begins crawling, I have no doubt she will constantly be on his heels! They both love for me to read them books. This is just after Grant has taken The Three Little Kittens away from Tessa to read himself (this happens often!). If she has it, he wants it! But as you can see, she didn't mind too much! I had a couple of other photos I really liked that I took for the I Heart Faces photo challenge, but this one stood out because it was a moment I may not ever be able to capture again.
